Everything You Need to Know Ahead of New York City's First Ever Ticker-Tape Parade.

Following the win of the New York Knickerbockers championship tournament for the first time in fifty-three years, generations are coming together this Thursday to gather for the city's first ever Ticker-Tape parade.

On Saturday, June 13th, 2026, the Knicks made basketbll history with their victory over the San Antonio Spurs. In celebration, New York City's Mayor Zohran Mamdani has announced the city's first ever Ticker-Tape parade, set to occur on Thursday, June 18th, ahead of the Juneteenth holiday.
The Mayor's office put out a website containing all the pertinent details needed to prepare for the city's upcoming celebration.
Key event details that you should know ahead of the New York Knicks Championship Parade
Date: Thursday June 18th, 2026
Time: The parade will begin at 10 am EST. Spectators are advised to arrive early, ahead of the crowds, as attendance is expect to reach millions.
Route: Along Broadway (AKA the "Canyon of Heroes") in Lower Manhattan
The parade will begin near Bowling Green in Lower Manhattan and travel North along Boradway to City Hall. Please congregate early, as crowds form quickly.
Subway closures: To prepare for the parade, several subway routes and stations will be closed or altered starting at 4 am EST.
Affected routes includes 4,5 trains and the Wall Street station, as well as the R and W trains at the City Hall station.
The following stations will be open:
Bowling Green (4,5)
Fulton Street (4, 5,J,Z, 2, and 3 trains)
Brooklyn Bridge (4, 5, 6) T
Chambers St (J and Z)
Park Place 2, 3 trains. The Metro North Railroad will provide more frequent service to accomodate for anticipated crowds.
Note: There is an alcohol ban in place for public transportation systems.
Cost: The Parade is free attend and will be broadcasted live on Peacock, a streaming service owned by NBC.
Accessibility: The ADA-accessible viewing area is located on the west side of broadway between Vesey and Barclay Streets. Entrance is at Barclay st and Church st.
Parade attendees will undergo a screening process, as regulations prohibit bags, chairs, coolers, drones and even pets. Access will be granted to identified individuals who work and live in the surrounding areas. The parade route will be tightly monitored with speicific access points along the main route.
This will be the first time in New York City History that a championship parade is held. The Knicks won the championship in 1973, but did not have a Ticker-Tape parade becuase of then-Mayor John Lindsay who halted all sports parades.
Following their win, the Knicks have gone on a tour of NYC of sorts, appearing on Jimmy Kimmel, SNL, and even throwing the first pitch at Wednesday’s Yankee Game against the Chicago White Sox.
Post parade, the Knicks are set to visit with the Mayor at City Hall Plaza for a Key to the City ceremony. 600 Tickets to the ceremony were made available by the Mayor’s office by way of raffle. Those tickets have since been distributed and the ceremony is closed.
